Poker Player To Jail
An online poker player stole thousands of pounds from a travel-agency managed by Phillip Schofield, known for his television presenting, as she attempted to wage time after time in order to reclaim her previous losses. Cindy Streets, 21 years old, lifted £26,100 in on month to nourish her obsession for online poker.
Cindy's deceitfulness began when she exceeded her credit limit on her cards and took £1,000 in cash and put them into her purse. At another occasion she managed to steal about £6,000 in foreign currency and then she tried to cover her doings by deleting the computer's records. The court was told that Cindy Streets spent many hours gambling on the Web and she kept thieving in the anticipation of recovering from her losses. Streets admitted at court to three.
Stephen Nunn, Streets's lawyer, said Cindy, who received £14,000 a year from her job, was led off course by various factors, one of them, not including her addiction, and was her former boyfriend, which was also an addict for online gambling activities. Nunn said: “Cindy's boyfriend said to her that he would get fortunate and that in his next session they would win and recover all their losses, but that of course did not happen, and very shortly they lost their money, hopefully online gamblers would learn from their experience."
